Sharing Holiday Cheer with Others

Posted Dec. 16, 2013

The Giving Tree

Students, staff and faculty from the Kent State Salem campus joined forces to help make the holidays a bit brighter for several people from local communities.

Donations included 16 pairs of pajamas for children living at the Fleming House, along with a gift for each child and bags of personal care items for their families.

The Honors College worked with The Way Station to set up the Giving Tree, which helped provide gifts for 30 children.

The Student Government Association also had a tree set up to collect hats, mittens, gloves and socks that will be donated to Akron Children’s Hospital. In addition, SGA “adopted” a local family and collected toys and clothing for its four children.

Additional donations helped provide gifts to another nine children from the area.
